Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between Olivier Bellity — Lebanim, Israeli sole trader (עוסק פטור, registration no. 341111854), 64 rehov Hapisga, 9638227 Jerusalem, Israel ("we", "our", "us") and any person who accesses or uses the Lebanim service ("you", "user").
Nothing in these Terms derogates from mandatory provisions of applicable law. Where a conflict exists, the provisions of law prevail.
1. Purpose and acceptance
These Terms govern the use of the Lebanim service, available at lebanim.com (the "Service"), offered by the provider identified above.
Lebanim is an online service supporting the writing of autobiographical life stories, intended primarily for people who wish to pass their family history on to their descendants.
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Access to the Service
2.1 Age requirements
Access to the Service is reserved for persons aged at least 15. Users under 16 residing in the European Union require the prior consent of a holder of parental responsibility, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Purchasing a paid plan is reserved for persons aged at least 18 and legally capable of entering into binding contracts.
2.2 Account creation
Access to the features of the Service requires the creation of a personal account. You agree to provide accurate, complete and current information at registration, and to keep it up to date.
You are solely responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials. Any use of the account under your credentials is deemed to have been made by you.
2.3 Availability
We endeavour to provide continuous access to the Service without undertaking to do so. Access may be interrupted for technical reasons, maintenance or force majeure, without such interruptions giving rise to any compensation.
3. Description of the Service
The Service offers you:
- A biographical questionnaire structured in 20 chapters, covering the main stages of a life
- Artificial-intelligence assistance to help you formulate and enrich your memories
- The ability to attach photographs to each question
- The generation of PDF documents reproducing your story, with translation options (French, Hebrew, English subject to availability)
- Automatic saving of content in your browser's storage
- A remote assistance session allowing the Helper, invited by you, to watch your screen live and — with your explicit authorisation — to write in your place (see section 6)
The features of the Service may change over time. We reserve the right to modify, suspend or remove any feature, informing users where reasonably possible.
4. Your content
4.1 Ownership
You remain the sole owner of the content you produce through the Service (texts, photographs, testimonies, the "Content"). No transfer of rights over that Content is made to us.
4.2 Licence granted to us
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, strictly limited to what is necessary for the technical operation of the Service: storage, transmission to the third-party providers required for processing (in particular artificial-intelligence services), display to you, and generation of the PDF documents you request.
This licence ends when you delete the Content or your account.
4.3 Your responsibility
You warrant that you hold all necessary rights over the Content you publish through the Service, in particular where that Content mentions or depicts third parties (family members, photographs). You undertake to respect the image rights and privacy of the persons concerned.
You agree not to publish content that is:
- Contrary to law, public order or public decency
- Defamatory, insulting, or an affront to the dignity of others
- An incitement to racial, religious or ethnic hatred
- An infringement of the intellectual property or personality rights of third parties
5. Artificial intelligence
The Service integrates features based on artificial intelligence, provided by a third party (Anthropic, United States). These features assist you in formulating your memories and writing your story.
You are informed that:
- The content you provide is transmitted to those providers for processing
- Suggestions, phrasings and texts produced by the artificial intelligence may contain inaccuracies or approximations
- You remain solely responsible for the final content you validate and keep in your story
- The artificial intelligence does not replace a human biographer, and cannot engage our liability as to the literary quality or historical accuracy of the story produced
6. Remote assistance session
6.1 What the feature does
The Service lets you open a session in which an authorised person (the "Helper") watches your screen live while you use the Service, so that they can help you operate it. You may also, at any time, authorise the Helper to act on your screen: to click and to type in your place.
Depending on the case, the Helper is either:
- a member of the Lebanim team — assistance is then provided by us. This is the only case currently open;
- a relative you designate freely, up to three (3) people, with no approval or involvement on our part. This option is not open yet.
This never starts on its own. It requires three separate acts from you: opening a session from your own account, sending the invitation link yourself to the Helper, and — for screen control only — granting it explicitly through a dedicated button.
6.2 What the Helper sees, and what they can do
During a session the Helper sees the content of the page in front of you, including the personal text you are writing. You should bear this in mind before opening a session: what you show, you really show.
Two limits are enforced by the Service itself:
- The "My account" page — billing, contact details, account deletion — cannot be shared: opening it ends the session in progress.
- Where screen control is granted, the Helper may act only within the parts of the Service meant for writing your story. Account, payment and deletion commands remain closed to them.
You may withdraw control, or end the session, at any moment and without notice — from the session bar or with the Esc key. A session also ends by itself after a prolonged period of inactivity.
6.3 The Helper's account
Joining a session requires the Helper to create an account (email address and password) or to sign in to their own. That account grants them no rights over your story outside the sessions you invite them to. The Helper is bound by the same obligations as you under section 4.3, and to discretion about what they see during the session.
6.4 Responsibility during the session
You alone decide whether to open a session and when to grant screen control; you may withdraw it, or end the session, at any moment.
Where the Helper is a member of the Lebanim team, assistance is provided by us and we answer for the conduct of the person acting in that capacity. They write only what you ask them to write; they add, change and delete nothing on their own initiative.
Where the Helper is a relative you designate, you choose that person alone. We play no part in the choice, we do not verify their identity, and we do not control what they write. Content produced during such a session is then deemed produced by you and is your responsibility under section 4.3.
In both cases the content of your story remains yours under section 4.1.
So that you can, where needed, tell your own writing from the Helper's, the Service keeps a log of the actions performed during each session (see the Privacy Policy, §6.7 and §8).
6.5 Assistance time included
Assistance time is metered by the second against a time credit attached to your plan: three (3) hours on the Guided plan and five (5) hours on the Prestige plan. Other plans do not include this feature.
The credit is restored to its initial amount on each purchase or renewal of a qualifying plan. It is not carried over beyond that, not transferable, and not refundable in money. A session that ends for want of credit may be resumed as soon as new credit is opened.
Only time actually spent in session is counted; periods during which the Service no longer receives a sign of life from your browser are not counted beyond one minute.
6.6 Availability
An assistance session relies on a live connection between two browsers. Its quality depends on both parties' networks and devices, which we do not control. We do not guarantee the smoothness or continuity of the stream, and an interrupted session gives no right to compensation — unused credit remaining yours.
7. Paid plans and payment
The Service offers a free trial (first chapter) as well as paid plans giving access to all features. Available plans and their prices are presented on the Pricing page and accepted by you before any payment.
Payments are processed by our payment provider Allpay. As we are an Israeli sole trader under the עוסק פטור regime, our prices are exempt from VAT.
Unless otherwise stated, a paid plan gives access to the Service for twelve (12) months from payment. Termination and refund conditions are set out in section 8.
7.1 Right of withdrawal and cancellation
Under Directive 2011/83/EU, consumers residing in the European Union have a fourteen (14) day right of withdrawal from subscription. As the Service constitutes digital content supplied immediately, a user who requests immediate performance acknowledges waiving that right of withdrawal once the service has begun. Independently of that statutory right, Lebanim offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on the terms of section 7.3.
Under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law (5741-1981), any user may cancel their purchase within 14 days from the date of purchase or receipt of the transaction details, by sending written notice to contact@lebanim.com including their full name, ID number and transaction details. This period is extended to 4 months for persons with a disability, senior citizens and new immigrants (עולים חדשים), provided this status was disclosed during the transaction. Where a statutory cancellation applies, a cancellation fee of up to 5% of the amount or 100 ₪ (whichever is lower) may be retained.
These provisions apply to all users. Users residing in the European Union also benefit from the protective provisions of EU consumer law, including the 14-day right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU.
7.2 Limits of the right of cancellation
The right of cancellation does not apply to plans whose digital content has been fully exported by the user (PDF download or data export). Where a physical book has been ordered or sent to print, the refund will be limited to the plan amount less the printing cost incurred.
7.3 Lebanim 30-day money-back guarantee
Independently of the legal rights above, Lebanim refunds any subscription in full within 30 days of purchase, with no cancellation fee, provided no physical book has been ordered or sent to print. Requests to contact@lebanim.com.
8. Suspension and termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a user's access in the event of a breach of these Terms, in particular where unlawful content or content contrary to the dignity of others is published.
Termination and data retention
If your subscription is terminated, you keep read-only access to your saved responses for 30 days from the date of termination. During that period you may download all of your responses as a PDF from your personal area.
At the end of that period, all of your personal data and responses are permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers; no restoration is possible after deletion. You may request immediate deletion at any time by contacting us.
Any subscription may be refunded in full within 30 days of purchase, provided no physical book has been ordered or sent to print.
9. Limitation of liability
We undertake to use reasonable means to ensure the availability, security and quality of the Service. The Service is nevertheless provided "as is", without express or implied warranty as to its fitness for a particular purpose.
We cannot be held liable for:
- Loss of content caused by a failure of your browser or by manual deletion of its storage
- Temporary interruptions of the Service due to maintenance or force majeure
- Failures of third-party providers (hosting, artificial intelligence)
- Indirect damage resulting from use of the Service
You are advised to keep a personal copy of your content on a regular basis.
10. Personal data
The processing of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
11. Our intellectual property
All elements making up the Service — texts, visuals, code, biographical questionnaire, editorial content — are protected by Israeli, French and international intellectual property law.
"Lebanim", the logo and all associated distinctive signs are our exclusive property. Any reproduction, representation or exploitation, in whole or in part, without prior written authorisation, is prohibited.
This section does not affect the rights you retain over your own Content under section 4.1.
12. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Users will be informed of substantial changes by notice on the Service or by message to the email address associated with their account. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Israeli law.
For users residing in the European Union, the mandatory provisions of applicable local law, in particular on consumer protection and personal data protection, remain fully applicable.
Any dispute relating to use of the Service falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jerusalem (Israel), subject to the public-policy rules protecting consumers in their country of residence.
